The places
A famous roastery started by a World Barista Champion. Lots of Ethiopian and Kenyan coffee here — bright, floral, fruity. My favorites: Geisha El Vikingo, Echemo Ethiopia, Finca Tamana, and Finca El Puente.
Coffee bar by day, cocktail bar by night. Good Kenyan and Peruvian coffee — the Ngurueri and Kiambara were both excellent. The Ethiopian Biloya was a rare miss.
The specialty chain you'll find all over Oslo. Reliably good. The Kenyan Muranga Gatagua and the Yirgacheffe Banko Gotiti are the standouts.
A small neighborhood spot near Bislett. Good light-roast filter coffee. The Peruvian Damian Espinoza was excellent — hazelnut, stone fruit, vanilla biscuit.
Japanese-influenced café with great pastries and several locations around town. Consistently good coffee — Mr. Mengeche Derso, Finca El Placer Pink Bourbon, and Finca la Fuente were the best of the bunch.
